Diana in Swaledale and Arkengarthdale

11.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 7th Apr 2009

Local Euro MP Diana Wallis met Swaledale farmer Stewart Parker in Arkengarthdale to discuss using wool from Swaledale sheep for home insulation and new EU rules regarding sheep tagging.

Diana Wallis said:

"The use of local wool for use in domestic insulation squares the circle for me, both economic and environmental. It draws on local suppliers for an important element of combating global climate change.

"I have written to the British Wool Marketing Board to see how this industry could be developed further."
